Tower Bridge was taken while I was jn London attending a course. This photo was taken on the South Bank just along from the fabulous City Hall. There is a wide paved area there so it's an ideal place to take long exposure photos.Time
This was taken in December late in the evening. There was a strong southerly wind blowing the low level clouds quite quickly across the sky which are reflecting the city lights to make the photo more dramatic.Lighting
Taking a photo late evening i the winter often results in black skies when it's clear or a mass of grey cloud. I got lucky this particular night that nature did all the hard work for me.Equipment
This was taken on a Canon EOS 7D with the EF 17-40mm f/4 L., mounted on a Manfrotto travel tripod. The camera shutter was activated using an inexpensive remote release cable.Inspiration
Tower Bridge is an iconic landmark, recognised throughout the world. I wanted to make a photo that did it justice.Editing
Post processing mainly centered around colour balance, fine tuning the lights on the bridge while trying to keep the clouds orange as they appeared on the night. In my camera bag
Everything that I can pack in. Right now that's my 7D and 6D mk ii with a small selection of lenses, covering 17-200mm. I always try and pack my nifty fifty too.Feedback
Patience. Long Exposure photography takes time, so give yourself more by using a high ISO setting to help you compose your scene. When you're happy you have the right composition, switch your settings. Always use a sturdy tripod and if there are people walking past, either cobsciously include them or try and time your exposures to avoid them.
