Several months ago, I took the opportunity to organise a get together with a few friends to meet up at Cape Schanck at the edge of the Mornington Peninsula and photograph Pulpit Rock. The plan was executed to perfection. All of us religiously hit the road before dawn, with barely a few hours of sleep behind us (one of us camped out at the National Park). After meeting up at the parking lot, we tramped our way down the walking path to pebble beach, before stumbling across the rocky contours to the edge of Pulpit Rock – a volcanic monolith that is the coastal feature of Cape Schanck. Having gotten there before daybreak, the weather was to turn on us time and time again (as it does so often on the Victorian South Coast) – but the light conditions did make it good enough for a couple of long exposure shots.
