Behind The Lens

Location

This morning I went out to the countryside to try to photograph some birds. I knew sometimes also appeared foxes in this area. This day was worth the wait. This curious fox appeared.

Time

This picture was taken near the middle of the day. A time of day that I had already seen foxes in this area.

Lighting

I do not know if the fox would appear and what would be her behavior but this fox was very curious and frenetic and at some time she came towards me. It was a sunny day but the track had trees and shrubs. Among some pictures I took, this resulted better, by the light that passed between the trees and lit the fox sideways, while their eyes were focused on me.

Equipment

In this photograph I used the Canon 60D and a 400mm lens.

Inspiration

I love foxes and dislike the bad reputation they have. I think foxes are beautiful and admirable animals. what inspires me is their beauty and the fact that unfortunately it is still a misunderstood animal.

Editing

I made a small crop to position the fox in the center and just some brightness, contrast and saturation adjustments.

In my camera bag

Normally i have a Canon 60D body, a Canon 400mm for birds, and other wildlife; a macro canon 100mm lens and a Canon 10-22 mm lens because i love to go hiking and photograph the landscapes. I also have an old prakticar 50mm lens, that i use for some floral photografhy because i love its bokeh. Usually i also bring with me, reflector, diffuser and flash for some macros.

Feedback

Animals are unpredictable but as we humans they have habits. If we seek to know their habits more easily, we'll get to photograph them. After knowing their habits, (where are often seen? what time of day?) the hardest part is the wait. Sometimes the wait does not result in anything, but on other days the wait can give the photo you wanted.
