Behind The Lens

Location

This is actually a long vase I had sitting on my bookcase. I loved the bumpy texture.

Time

It was taken indoors during the day.

Lighting

I have recessed lighting in my bedroom with a dimmer switch so I adjusted it to give just the right amount of darkness to the background while highlighting the bumps and texture in the foreground.

Equipment

It was taken with a Canon PowerShot SX40 HS, one of my favorite little cameras.

Inspiration

I like weird and unusual shots and thinking outside the box.

Editing

No special processing - I was quite happy with the result!

In my camera bag

You know, I'm just an amateur. So I carry my little Canon in my purse and my cell phone which takes great shots. I get surprising results with hardly anything and experimentation.

Feedback

Experiment with lighting and angles. Make use of different functions on your camera, from exposure settings to the fun stuff, like tilt shift. I have no clue about the variances of ISO or aperture settings - I experiment for my best results as an amateur.
