The photo was taken on a trip to Yellowstone National Park. The tree is in the Lamar Valley at the north end of the park.Time
I believe the photo was captured about 10:00 am as I was driving around the Lamar ValleyLighting
Nothing special on this shot in regards to lighting set up as it was haha handled by mother natureEquipment
The photo was taken with my Nikon D300 as my D600 was in the shop to have the shutter issue fixed. The lens was my 24-70 f2.8 tripod was a Manfrotto.Inspiration
The photo was a happy accident, I was parked on the side of the road and walked forward to take a shot of somthing else that didn't work. On the way back to the car I posted the tree and the tree shadow, It was a WOW moment and I rushed closer framed up the shot and made a few captures. by the time I had walked back to the car I looked one more time and the lighting and the shot had disappeared for good.Editing
Post processing was done with Lightroom 5 and OnOne photo sweet. I didn't do much just doing and burning and a second copy in B&W.In my camera bag

The only advice I can give others looking to capture a shot like this is: Have a list of shots you would like to capture in your head and when out shooting you my find yourself looking at somthing and know it is the shoot. the only other thing I can say is get out and shoot as much as you can.
