Gnarly. The male sparrow on the left reminds me of one of the velociraptors from Jurassic Park

Location
Berlin city, close to one of the cities river channelsTime
"lunchtime" guess it was between 2 and 4 pm, had a late lunchbreak back thenLighting
Natural light, no flash, automatic mode to catch the little feathered ones while they tryed to get my lunch snack :)Equipment
a second hand HP 945 - yes, really a mirrorles 5.3MP cam - my standard at the time when I took this pic (no money for a mirror reflex ... and meanwhile I love bridgecams since for most - fast - action its a nice alternative)Inspiration
Indeed love groundlevel shots and always wanted to have these tiny birds in XL on my screen ... needed several atempts but by time - I sat there many times - they got used to me and the few crumbles they could catch when I had my lunchbreak there. Guess They got used to me - to much to say they trusted me :) - and came closer each time ... :)Editing
Nearly nothing - just cropped my favoutite part of the pix since the original is 4:3 format, just a little more contrast, thats it. As it is.In my camera bag
Meanwhile I switched to a second hand (again, Sponsors welcome ;) ) Fuji HS25 with a built in 24-720mm (even better for pics like this) ... it uses normal mignon sized accus and is fine at daylight - nearly all my newer pics are made with that one (and since this year also again some birds ...). Else: A little minitripod, which I nearly never use since I use what I get first instead of a tripod - Bananas (really :) ), my Wallet, even my phone, if I make ground level shots like this one. Second set of Accus, Polfilter. Thats it. And a big bunch of curiousity, what encounters I will have with and for the cam next dayFeedback
Take some time ... even take 2-3 days to let the birds get used to u. if youre not as a tourist in place. Watch if there are already places where they catch food (like here arround park banks). Make your cam ready, have a break, resist to take the cam if the first bird is there - the first one is just like a "tester" ... if the little one thinks you´re a good buddy, probably more and more birds will follow (in my case there where almost anywhere in the end, like a little gang that knew "He eats - there must be crumbles so ... gimme ´crumbles :D " ... thus I even had ducks landing right beside me while taking pics at the Berlin Dome with some small doves ... some of these pics are also here in my viewbug page. Besides: Time to day I love this page - beautiful overall presentation of the pics ans quite nice connection to the community, just feels like my digital photo home :)
