This was one of the most beautiful places on earth as far as my friend Steve was concerned.
It's the Hermosa Beach Pier -- in the city he called home for the last fifteen years -- until he left us way too early this past June after losing to an illness he had fought with courage, grace, and dignity -- never complaining, and too concerned about all but his closest friends and family to let on how serious his condition really was.
He loved his life, he loved his job, and he loved people -- those who worked with him, for him, and those he called friends.
I love the symmetry of this pier -- even though as piers go, it's pretty plain -- especially on a gloomy Sunday morning with the drizzle covering my lens faster than I could wipe it.
