Location
This photo was taken in the city of Coimbra, in the center of Portugal. Coimbra is the home of one of the oldest universities in Europe. Coimbra is my ancestral home as my paternal grandmother was born there. I am an amateur photography and when I took this photo, I was not sure what the result would be.Time
This photo was taken at 12 noon from a cross street. I wanted to show the narrowness of the street and the fact that there was nobody around. I also wanted to show the deepness of the street and that it seems to disappear to nowhere. Color was also a feature that I wanted to capture, particularly the yellow of the house and the green of the doors.Lighting
Because the sun was high in the sky, I wanted to make sure that there were no shadows on the picture. I went a few steps into the street and looked for an angle that would avoid shadows. I believe that the narrowness of the street help with the lighting.Equipment
I used my NIKON D3200, AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G. Nikon is my preferred camera, and the one I always use when traveling.Inspiration
Coimbra is a beautiful city, full a very picturesque streets, corners, plazas, and buildings. I was also very happy being there, as it had been 20 years since my last visit.Editing
The original was a little darker than the final picture. I increased the brightness slightly. In my camera bag
My NIKON D3200 and a Fuji point and shoot.Feedback
In old European cities, I try not to plan the pictures very much. I usually take a few shots of the same location with a few variations and them keep the ones that I like the most.
