Location
About 5kms down a gravel road at Loch Voil, Balquhidder, Scotland.Time
Mid afternoon. It was a beautiful calm, blue sky day then the weather started to change just after this picture was taken.Lighting
The perfect calm reflection and the sun positioned behind some clouds in front of the camera was perfect for bringing out the shadows in the water creating a very vibrant colour.Equipment
Nikon D3000 with a 18-55mm lens and a Manfrotto Befree Tripod.Inspiration
At that time i was working at a hotel in this area. While at work i would always see the Loch go very still and thought 'if only i was down there with my camera'. My accommodation was situated looking directly down at this magnificent Loch. So when i had a day off work i sat outside and waited patiently for the Loch to go still. Shortly after the picture was taken the Loch broke up and the weather changed for the worse.Editing
Not a lot of post-processing was done. I wanted to keep it looking as natural as possible so i only done a few basic adjustments. The colours were very vibrant and i was quite happy with the results. In my camera bag
Nikon D3000 camera with a 18-55mm lens, Manfrotto Befree Tripod, SRB Photographic ND1000 filter, SRB Photographic circular polorizer filter.Feedback
To get the best results for perfect reflections the key is to be very patient. The weather can change very quickly. It will need to be a very calm day so just get everything set up, take in the magnificent scenery and relax until the moment arrives.
