Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo at a winery outside Warranton, Virginia.Time
It was taken mid-morning, around 10 or 11 a.m.Lighting
The sun was really bright and the sky was completely clear on a crisp, late-summer dayEquipment
I took this photo several years ago, so I don't recall all the details. I know that I used my, now old, Nikon D70s; and believe I used my Nikkor 70-300mm f4-5.6 zoom lens.Inspiration
As my wife and I strolled around the winery grounds, I saw this particular bunch of grapes. For this time of the year, the vines were filled with ripe bunches, however most were obscure and mixed among the large leaves. These grapes were somewhat exposed and framed quite nicely by colorful colorful leaves.Editing
There was not much need for a lot of post-processing work on this image. Just about the only post-processing was to convert the color image I originally shot, into black and white. While the color image was nice, it became quite dynamic in black and white. In my camera bag
My primary body is a Nikon D7000 and my spare (backup) is my Nikon D70s; I always have my Nikon SB-800 in my bag, as well as a couple other generic flashes made to be compatible with Nikon cameras. For lenses, I carry a Nikkor DX 10.5mm f2.8 fisheye; a Nikkor DX 35mm f1.8 prime; Nikkor DX18-70mm f3.5-4.5 zoom; Nikkor 70-300mm f4-5.6 zoom; and my favorite lens is my Tamron 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 zoom. I also carry a Benro tripod on the outside of my Think Tank backpack.Feedback
Keep a sharp lookout wherever you go, you never know when you'll find a great image hiding on a vine surrounded by leaves.
