Location
This was taken at the International Fountain at the Seattle Center which was built for the 1962 World'd Fair.Time
It was early evening and the sun was setting.Lighting
Just that it was magic hour and I keep my eyes open for photo opportunities that time of the day.Equipment
I used a Lumix g2 with a 45-150mm zoom lens.Inspiration
I try to get one good image a day -- that's my goal. So, I was near the fountain at magic hour and saw that it was back-lit by the setting sun and thought that a photo would present itself to me if I hung around and kept my eyes open. The water was glowing and the fountain produces these great arcs of water, so I knew something would happen.Editing
No, I did not.In my camera bag
Not too much, just two lenses: a 14mm f/2.5 and a 45-150mm zoom lens.Feedback
I would say, to makes sure that you are aware of when you are in a place and time when a picture is likely to present itself. When the right ingredients are present make sure that you are too. I use the basic rules of composition all the time. I used the low-light of magic hour and used the rule of thirds for positioning my subjects. I also used the arc of the water to frame the subjects -- a frame within a frame. The rules work, might as well use them.
