Feedback

I have a view of photography that may not be founded on concrete photographic principle but here goes. I usually go to areas or places that I am relatively sure that there will be opportunities for pictures. I have 15 flower beds with a variety of different flowers that attract different insects. The back yard butts up to a detention basin that collects rainwater runoff. When dry because of the various bird feeders and the placing of grain for wildlife, rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks and different types of birds, from geese to hummingbirds, I have numerous opportunities for interesting photographs. Our area in central Illinois is blessed with numerous lakes and parks which also provide a plethora of opportunities for photographs. Events such as parades, Toastmasters, churches, fairs, etc. are places that beg to be photographed. Currently my church will be celebrating its 125 year anniversary and I have been given the opportunity to be the photographer for the event. Taking pictures at venues during holidays and local events such as the neighborhood 4th of July parade are a great opportunity to meet people and take photos for them. I love taking photos and over the years have taken many, I even had the opportunity to photograph some of the scenes of Tora, Tora, Tora. It was being filmed on Oahu in and around Pearl Harbor. I had returned from a submarine deterrent patrol and would lie on the roof of the apartment and photograph the planes as they made simulated bombing runs on Pearl. I wish I had then the equipment and experience I have now, but I still got some neat pictures. So I guess my thought about photographing is try to be at the right place at the right time and if you can't take whatever pictures you can and enjoy the moment.
