Convent of Christ - Tomar

The Convent of Christ is a complex architecturalgroup, made up of various buildinggs and landscaped areas. Overlooking the town of Tomar, it isa milestone in Portuguese architecture. The choice of the Castle and citadel of Tomar as the base for the Poor Knights of Jesus Christ (the Order of the Temple) was due to Gualdim Paes ( 1195 ), Master of the Order, in agreement with Afonso Henriques, the first Portuguese monarch.
