This photo was taken from the High Level Bridge in Newcastle across the River Tyne.Time
The image was taken at nightfall, because it was a long exposure the sky stays blue.Lighting
With lots of lights across both the river and the bridges the lighting was difficult to get right, this image was taken a couple of times at different speeds to get the result I wanted.Equipment
A tripod was used to ensure stability for the long exposure. I use a Nikon D7000 and used the remote trigger to activate it. Being careful with the tripod legs for pedestrians on the bridge.Inspiration
I love the view along the revamped Quayside in Newcastle, when I was younger I remember when it was full of boats unloading wares rather than the well lit attraction that it has become. The bridges themselves are iconic and with the recently built Sage auditorium reflecting from its glass curves, I wanted to capture as much of the scene as possible.Editing
Very little post processing on this image, just a tweak on curves in Photoshop.In my camera bag
In my camera bag I always have a spare battery, Nikon 50mm, Nikon 18-55mm, Sigma 70-300mm, Neewer TT560 speedlites. On my Nikon D7000 is the kit lens 18-105mm. I carry a pen torch to help see things in the dark, a pen and paper for jotting down details and info for future use. A remote trigger, and wired trigger. Cards to hand out with my email details (people will often ask for my info especially useful if they are in your shots).Feedback
Always have consideration for those trying to get past you. Look at what you want to be your main subject even when you want a lot in your shot. Consider different heights for your angles, are there buildings you could use, a wall. Once in position take a variety of shots with different settings. You are there so trying it differently takes little extra effort.
