THE SUNBEAM A seventy four ton schooner built in England in the 1860, THE boat was owned by RICHARD KIERNAN or KEARON of ARKLOW and seems to have been used to deliver cargo around IRELAND.The Sunbeam was sailing in ballast from KILVARA to CORK when she met her end. CAUGHT in a gale she ran around on ROSSBEIGH beach on January 28 1903. Fortunatly there was no loss of life

Sadly this is no longer in this position. Due to recent storms in January 2014 the beach has being stripped of all the sand and the 4 ton hull was lifted to the dunes. If it will remain in this position who knows but if not restored to a more permanent better position the fear is it will break up.
