Location
We arrived in Bagan (Myanmar) two days before. We got the information from one of the Burmese guides who lead us through the archeological ground in old Bagan that novice monk walked the streets in lines around the temple to receive alms from the inhabitants.Time
It was 9 o'clock in the morning. We didn't have long to wait when the first line of young novices appeared to our greatest enjoyment.Lighting
The sun was shy and playing hide and seek behind the clouds. The light was soft and it suited well the subject of this photo.Equipment
Canon 7D camera. I used a Canon 70-200mm but that was a wrong choice since I had to keep distant from the subject with the risk of capturing unwanted elements.Inspiration
I had seen several pictures of this kind on the Internet and it looked great to me. I wanted to make the most out of this long awaited trip to Myanmar. I also wanted to try my luck with my new camera (purchased about two weeks beforehand).Editing
Post processing with Lightroom 4 was very simple. I opened the shades and cropped a bit to have a harmonious line across the control screen. In my camera bag
I usually carry a 90 mm macro lens an 50 mm with a wide opening and two zooms one 70-200 mm and one 16-35 mm (there all Canon except for the 90 mm macro lens which is a Tamron) and a Benro tripod. Since then I have added a master flash and a 400 mm for birds shooting. Every time I go on a shooting cession I choose the equipment that suits me best on every occasion since the whole lot is quite heavy when you have to walk long distance, go up and down steep hills and kneel down with the bag on my back.Feedback
Listen to people who are living in the area. They usually give you interesting information and tips that can be useful not to hurt the local people's feeling in their feelings. You have to be very careful in this respect when shooting a religious related subject. Surf the Net too to see what was done before can be very useful to select the right spot and the time of day in terms of daylight.
