This photo was taken in April of 2013 from my deck in the back of our house. We have several different types of cherry trees that I look forward to blooming in the spring and this particular spring the blossoms were spectacular.Time
This photo was taken in the late afternoon when the sun was lower in the sky behind me.Lighting
I depended on the natural light and did not use a flash. The photo was taken using manual mode and the settings were f/6.3,ISO 200, exposure 10/640. The focal lenght was 38mm.Equipment
For this particular photo, I used a Nikon D80. I did not use a tripod nor did I use a flash. The photo was taken using manual mode and the settings were f/6.3,ISO 200, exposure 10/640. Unfortunately, I do not remember which lens I used but the focal length was 38mm.Inspiration
I love spring and the beauty and renewal that comes with it. Each year I look forward to seeing the cheery blossoms that my backyard trees produce and this particular year, 2013, the blossoms were spectacular and long lasting which is not always the case. So when it does happen, I jump on the opportunity to photograph nature's spring beauty.Editing
No, I did not post-process this photo. In my camera bag
I used a Nikon D80 for this shot. However, since I took this shot I now own a Nikon D7000 not to say that I no longer use my D80. I also use various lenses such as the Nikkor 18-105, f/3.5-5.6 and the Nikkor 50mm, f/1.8D. I have several other lenses as well.Feedback
Use a lens that will produce a nice, soft bokeh and shot when the sun is low. Get as close to the blooms as possible but yet allow a blurred background.
