For lighting i used 2 sparklers one for lighting the couch and the other for lighting the guitar.Equipment
I used my Canon 60D with the Canon EF-S 18–55mm lens + Tripod and 2 sparklers.Inspiration

this is 2 photos, one i light painted the couch and the other the guitar. I used photoshop cs6 and basically blended the 2 photos using the blending mode lighten.In my camera bag

Practise if you want to master something you must practise. Use props that emphasize the main subject. Shoot in RAW, you will have a lot more creative options.
