Heaven on Earth. A beauty.

I know the spot well, Paul - this is as good as I've seen of it. The sky enhances the brown barrenness of the moorland.

Very Nice capture

Behind The Lens

Location
This is the view across Rannoch Moor as you approach Glen Coe from the south. This shot is from the edge of the main road the A82 the small loch is Lochan na h-Achlaise
Time
Taken at 14:30 in November
Lighting
A typical autumn day in Scotland - a lot of cloud cover but with quite a wind that keeps it moving allowing short busts of sun. The light that was breaking through really bounced with cloud and slight snow fall acting as giant reflectors
Equipment
I was using a Canon 5D3 with a 17-40mm on a tripod
Inspiration
This is the first spectacular view of the Glen Coe range you see when travelling into the highlands - so everybody knows it and I have rarely been lucky with the light when passing here. No chance I was going to pass on the opportunity!
Editing
This is 7 shots blended to get the full dynamic range, with some tonal optimisation and colour balancing in Lightroom and Photoshop
In my camera bag
I carry Canon 5D3 an 7D, Sigma -70-200 2.8, 120-300 2.8, 1.4 tele-converter Canon 17-40, TSE 24, 50 1.8 Tamron 90 2.8, 17-50 2.8 Tokina 11-16 2.8 Manfrotto 55XPROB 498RC2 Head HiTech filters
Feedback
I think you need to be aware of how the light is moving across the whole landscape and try to build up a picture of how the blended images will work together to get what your eyes can see. I also try to work out what the key colours in a scene are and try to bring these out to balance the composition
