The Angel Oak is said to the the oldest living thing east of the Rocky Mountains. It is estimated to be 1500 years old. "The Tree" a Live Oak lives on Johns Island South Carolina near Charleston. Live oak trees are coniferous and hold their leaves all year. It is 65 feet tall and has a spread diameter of 160 feet. The limbs are as large as many normal sized trees and are so heavy that they sag to the ground. Many of the limbs have metal poles holding them up.
