Behind The Lens
Location
Shot in an abandoned mansion in affluent Grosse Pointe, blocks from the Detroit/Grosse Pointe border. The house: c. turn of the century, and in a state of beautiful disrepair.Time
This was taken during winter months, in the afternoon.Lighting
All natural light. There was no power available, so I used reflectors, sun and snow.Equipment
My Canon 50D and the everything lens. A Canon 18-200mm IS. Great, lens!Inspiration
Jamie and I worked together often as photographer and model. Here, she was just sorta looking to me for direction though that tiny window. She put her hands up, and a portrait happened. Jamie is very soulful, and clearly beautiful. Portraits happen with Jamie!Editing
Not much on this one! I did some cropping and a little wash, but all in all, it's a pretty straight forward shot.In my camera bag
Besides my camera, I have two flashes, a ton of batteries, my reflector hooked to the side, and a few lenses that I don't often use. An old portrait lens and two wide angled. I rarely see a reason to take my 'everything' lens off.Feedback
This wasn't 'set up' so-to-speak. It just sort of happened, which I feel usually makes for the best portraits. Obviously watch for reflections in glass. I had a friend there who blocked some glare for us.
