Lovely... Although I do feel something is wrong with respect to rule of thirds here.... Maybe too much sky, can you place (or did you) the tree at two-thirds of the photo And maybe crop a little bit of the left side of the photo...an then maybe on the right as well...

Location
This is a beautiful spot about 30 minutes drive from me. An unspoilt heathland, which breaks out in glorious purple hues every August.Time
This image was taken just before sunset.Lighting
I wanted the late evening glow to highlight the heather and give a 3D feel to the foreground.Equipment
This image was taken with a Nikon 7100 and a sigma wide angle lens. The low perspective was achieved by shooting on a tripod.Inspiration
Being local to the area I know how gorgeous the colours can be with the right light at that time of year. The lone tree was included just to add a focal point.Editing
5 bracketed shots were taken to ensure I captured the full dynamic range of the scene. I then used luminosity blending to achieve the desired exposure. In my camera bag
I normally shoot with a wide angle lens and use the lee filter system to enhance the exposure and for any long exposure shots that I need.Feedback
Light really is the most important part of the image. I normally visit the same location multiple times to achieve the shot I'm after. I am a great believer in viewing others work to help achieve the look I am after. Learning from other photographers and then applying your own unique style is a great way in progressing and improving. Above all enjoy your time in the field,it will show in your images.
