What do you do when you at the summit of Mount Maunganui and have it to yourself. No people to distract and have the beautiful view of Tauranga city just to yourself.

Took heaps of shots from around the summit but this one stands out (of course, because it's a selfie) The milkyway shining brightly over the light polluted city shows how the stars triumph over artifically created light.

The light from the ground is strong enough to reach few hundred meters in the sky but the light from the stars altough weak and far away is strong enough to illuminate the dark sky and overpower the ones below.

Soon, the lights below will get stronger and we will lose the beauty of the night sky. We have to start lighting right to keep the skies filled with star for the future generation.
