Twilight at Bass Harbor Lighthouse in Acadia, ME.

When I first arrived at this location, I honestly thought I had made a mistake. There were people everywhere, which I can't blame them it's a beautiful spot to watch the sunset, but that just doesn't work when trying to photograph the landscape. I had just arrived that afternoon, so I didn't have much of a plan for a shoot anyhow. I kept my gear in the bag and enjoyed the view with everyone else.

Once the sun actually set, most everyone packed up and left, even other photographers. A few who had planned to shoot the Milkyway stayed and were positioned on a rocky outcrop to my left. It gave me a small window to use my long lens and compose a vertical composition. In my opinion, waiting until twilight turned out to benefit the scene as the light from the lighthouse became more prominent.
