This is Pilot Mountain, NC. (Mount Pilot if you've ever watch the Andy Griffith Show) I live in the area, so I fortunately had the opportunity to try this shot several times. Finally after a few tries and some careful planning, as well as purchasing a special super telephoto lens, I was able to get a shot of a full moon rising betwen the pinnacles of the mountain. This is an HDR merge of two shots to allow for proper exposure of the moon/sky and to get some of the unique rocky texture around the main pinnacle.
