LOL... no need to feel like a novice... just get a "Time Machine Drip Kit" :-)
It takes a bit of work, some math, etc... but once you get your settings down, you can get shots like this every time...

Just a beautiful photo - in terms of creativity etc. I think this should have been GRAND PRIZE WINNER - anyone can take landscape shots - but this is creativity at its finest! Glad you got an award anyways! :) Well done!

I see the comment by denelson42 - and I am sorry you were subjected to that kind of comment! It takes all kinds, unfortunately - to make this world we live in. I for one love this shot and the others using this technique - and there is nothing fake about it!! Like water of a ducks back, let that comment float away - and keep shooting! :)

Yeah, it's already behind me. Obviously the idiot doesn't know the techniques behind capturing a shot such as this therefore it must be fake... LOL Some people just don't have open minds, and they are not willing to learn from what they see. When I first saw waterdrop photos such as this, I didn't say (oh that has to be fake or photoshopped) instead I started researching the process and figured out how to do it. After that, I practiced and practiced some more until I was able to capture the colors, the drop, and the light just right. I know have tons of various water drop images :)
