This image is a visual metaphor for my working life. The light in the top corner is the beginning and first 20 years in the underground coal mining industry. It represents the coal miners cap lamp. I wanted the texture of the first shadows to resemble the mine and give the impression of leaving the mine. This is also a view of a miners field of vision when underground and close to the view you would see of another miner looking at something . The cube is a cross over from where I am now and the last associations with the coal industry. It is a turners cube, made by me on a lathe recently. It was a task I gave myself to test that I remembered how to use a Lathe. It also represents a more engineering approach to life. A more structured way of living. Finally the image itself represents my passion for photography. Hopefully a career in photography will be my last evolution.
