I made the three hour trek from San Diego to the Park in my 26' RV. I spent the day hiking and bouldering in the desert surrounded by a green forest of Joshua Trees and amazing geologic formations of giant boulders. The environment is unlike anything I have ever seen. The nighttime temperatures were in the low 30s, so obviously, I wore my Patagonia gear and stayed nice and warm while out shooting for several hours. I had an opportunity to really put my new Zeiss Distagon T* 21mm f/2.8 lenses to the test, and boy did it perform! The images I took looked like they were three-dimensional and the dynamic range and color were just phenomenal! My Gitzo 5-Series tripod and Really Right Stuff BH-55 ball head also performed flawlessly in the near freezing temperature.
