Here I attempted to catch Lady Liberty from a slightly different angle, although I have to admit I felt as if I was looking up her skirts. Thankfully there was plenty of 'fabric'! She holds a torch in her right hand and in her left is a tabula ansata 'July IV MDCCLXXVI' (July 4, 1776). She is a work a truly magnificent beauty, the detail being incredible. The fluency and detail of her copper shell is truly amazing.

Love this photo, it was my view as a child when we were on a class trip and I couldn't walk up the spiral staircase all the way. Too many kids and I got claustrophobic...
