Not many of these critically endangered orangutans are left in wild. At Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary, they gave these impressive living beings a new home. Their natural habitat is shrinking to make space for palm oil plantations, which are a massive environmental problem. However, to see a mother with her offspring is a ray of hope for persistence.

My late Great Aunt Carol Richie was a volunteer with The Orangutan Foundation and took many trips to Bornio to work with these amazing creatures. This is a stunning picture. I am truly enjoying your work! Ty.
