I made it to Jokulsarlon yesterday and paid a visit to the ice beach, it really needs to be seen to be believed. These icebergs have broken off the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier which is believed to be around 1000 years old into a lagoon, They then float out to sea and get washed up on the beach with the tides and as if that wasn't enough the reason its called the black beach is because its made up of fine basalt from the local volcanoes!
