Star trails at the Thrombolites at Lake Clifton in Western Australia. Thrombolites are the structures of ancient life forms dating back about 3.5 billion years. Long exposure of 30s taken at dusk combined with star trails. The long exposure captures the foam flowing around the Thrombolites. They are exposed out of the water for around 2 months of each year. This is a reprocess of previous photo to remove the headlights - as composition goes, eyes go to the brightest part of a scene, so created a distraction from the key elements of the photo. Manually graduated the star trails by stacking in groups and then then changing the opacity gradually (back when programs like starstax didn't do it)

Stunning! How do you get the star trails while having enough light for the rocks and water to show up. Thank you so much!
