I recognized the place instantly because I lived at Lake Tahoe for 6+ years. I have seen Emerald Bay from this angle during all seasons of the year...even in the winter when I had to hike through 4 feet of snow to reach it. There is one thing that makes this picture stand out: The sepia toned sky and the effect the lighting has on the mood of the picture. In all my years at Tahoe I never saw the sky this color but...here it is. Yes, there is indeed something very special about Lake Tahoe.
