When capturing moments, experimenting with exposures is one of the best ways to create interesting and dynamic images. A big thank you to Master Judge Mia Quagliarello for her collaboration in this contest. One of YouTube's original YouTube's original "coolhunters," Mia is now the head of the creator community at Flipboard and the community manager for the photography vertical. She's new to taking pictures herself but has long had a curator's eye for what's interesting and deserves to be surfaced. (She curated Burning Man's Instagram account for several years, which she helped to grow to more than 1 million followers.) Mia is also the producer and host of Flipboard's podcast, "The Art of Curation", and loves to study the role of human taste in a tech-driven world. Congratulations Grand Jury Winner "Skateboarders " by lifearound

"I just love the forms, shapes and gradients in this one. The geometry of the shot is amazing; I could stare at it forever. I especially love the juxtaposition of the hard lines with the fluid movement of the skater and how the whole thing almost feels like a flip book laid flat. There is joy in this picture, even though it’s in a sterile-feeling setting where we cannot see any faces." - Mia Quagliarello

Runner Up

"It’s funny to me that these posh-looking people still look so elegant when wind-swept by a passing train. What I love most here is the blasé expression on the woman’s face contrasted with the 'emotive' flowing of hair and scarves. I also like how the curves in the tube’s tunnel look like they connect to the man’s head, creating cohesion in the picture with yet another wave. " - Mia Quagliarello

Runner Up

"When I first looked at this shot, I thought I was looking at something through lace. I love how mysterious and moody it is, even with the sun trying so hard to bring light to the scene. The colors shift dramatically, and I wonder where I am: in a creepy, post-apocalyptic movie scene or a peaceful, misty place at dawn? It could go either way. " - Mia Quagliarello
