Time is relative. To us time passes in moments. Long exposure can allow to the affects of longer spans of time by the movement of the clouds and water.

This is nothing at all on the scale of geologic time. Rock appears so static to us but is constantly imperceptibly on the move. Humans have only been in the this land for the blink of an eye to this butte.

In recent geologic time this butte was part of the ocean bed and had risen and eroded to its present state in times to come is will erode as wind and water peel it back for it to become a needle and eventually will be gone.

We do not see geologic time, things such as the rise and erosion of this butte seem to have happened in the past and will happen in the future but it is happening in the present beyond the tiny scales of our human perception.

Clouds move, rivers flow, stone crumbles in a constant flux... If only we could truly perceive the majesty of it all.
