As the photographer who took this, I agree with jimgans_8278 that the image is magical, but what I'd like to know (not fishing for compliments either) is what is it that makes this image interesting? I knew the moment I took it that it had something, but I'm at a loss to accurately describe it. All comments are welcome.

Lee, not only magical, but powerful, you've managed to capture nature at her most capricious. The lower section tends to show a more gentle, serene aspect, whereas the upper section simply states: "trust me at your peril" Could I be so bold as to suggest some post production? A little contrast and a dabble here and there may turn a beautiful shot into an absolutely stunning seascape. Please forgive me if I've overstepped the mark, regards, Garry :)

totally agree with garryfitzpatrick. I would even go a step further (and now you wish Lee you never had asked), when holding my hand over the left side where the sand is rough and cropping out more sky so it is the brown shades of the sand with the shades of grey/blue of the water it takes your breath away because of its simplicity, the smooth sand and rough water, magic. I also would clone out the bit in the foreground that looks like a piece of rope. I probably really have overstepped the mark now, so sorry, but since you asked:-))) love the image! cheers and good luck on your contest entries!

It's the primordial mother of us all, elusive, dream like remembering. I say the seaweed looks like an unbilical cord. The ocean just gave birth.
