Wizard Light ~ my first ever trip to Crater Lake in Oregon. Deep, fresh snow. I had never snow-shoed in my life before. I was alone and totally uninformed and unguided. It's not allowed to stay in your car on the mountain, so after a nocturnal wander and snow-shoe scout, I drove down the mountain to a road cut-out, slept for maybe three hours, then drove back up, and snow-shoed out in the dark to wait for sunrise. Not a cloud, unfortunately, but totally exhilarating all the same.

What a perfect place to catch the sun though, like a candle lit in the lake!! Yes clouds could have reflected the light back onto the snow and been spectacular!
