One of scariest sounds I've heard is the pounding of the ocean against the rocks because it's usually followed by a vertical eruption of salt water (which attacks my camera from above) or a horizontal surge up the shore (attacking from below). But these collisions are the ones that create beautiful scenes of chaos and flow at the same time.
