Men cut firewood the old way, with a two-man crosscut log saw. This was in July, but the nights are cold at this altitude. Firewood is essential for cooking and warmth.This image was shot at our first base camp during a 7 day horseback camping trip in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, Montana. We were guided by a crew of outfitters and three pack mule trains to carry our tents, food and gear. There was no need to pack water, as the streams and rivers are pristine, providing all the water we needed.
