Embrace the moment. We all know the feeling when we are out and about with a camera trying to grab a glimpse of real life or a wonderful vista and that moment is stolen by a group of people whom spot the camera and decide to perform in front of it. In reality, it isn't a moment lost behind the camera because it can quite often produce some interesting candid action portraits that sum up the feelings of the people taking part about their joy or sorrow at life on that particular day that candid but covert street portraits often won't do. This is one of those joyful moments taken at the harbour at Holyhead on the Isle of Anglesey in North wales , UK, when the boys I was capturing jumping off the high pier in an exercise of daring do stopped performing their feats of courage and jumped in front of the camera for a snapshot instead. the boy on the left just caught up in a friends arms by suprise and lifted unceremoniously up in the air as we took the photograph. It is part of an ongoing project that I have been creating over many years travelling called, "Kings of Summer" ( I also have a "Queens of Summer " project too) capturing the candid action and intimate moments that remind us all of our well spent youth and how little really changes when it comes to building our memories together from one generation to another. Candid Portrait photography.
