The island of Santorini (known to Greeks as Thira) is a major tourist trap. It's easy to see why - everything about the island from its geography (sunset photography, anyone?) to the architecture to the centerpieces on the tables of one single café like the ones here seems to center around one single motto: aesthetics. Everywhere you look you're surrounded by beauty, to the point where an amateur photographer can be overwhelmed. Fortunately, I had a lot of guidance when I went in October 2014 as part of a photography tour - our instructor is an old hat at travel photography.
