In Feb. 2018, I flew from Vancouver to North Bay, ON., to attend my sister's funeral. On the return trip a snowstorm came up in the morning prior to take-off time. There are two trips a day, I was to take off on the second trip. When I arrived at the airport there were more people waiting to board the plane than usual. I discovered the early morning plane didn't take-off due to the storm, so now there were two groups waiting.
All the waiting passengers were a bit antsy wondering, "Will I get a seat or be bumped?"
After several hours, and de-icing, an announcement was made that we'd be boarding in a few minutes. It still looked stormy and everyone was wondering if it would be safe. So, we boarded and the pilot told us we would take off, to what amounted "between gusts", which we did.
It didn't take long to have the lull in the weather and before we knew it, we were safely flying above the storm.
I made my connecting flight to Vancouver in time (just), and soon was on my way home.
