I began experimenting with Infrared Photography several years ago. I love the medium particularly when photographing vegetation as the plants and trees will literally glow in the infrared spectrum. To get this picture I took a Canon 5D Mark III and converted it to a full time dedicated Infrared camera. We did this by placing special filters to block most of the the normal visual spectrum (400-590 nm) and we then removed the filters that are in all DSLR that filter out infrared light. In the end we have a camera that lets through a touch of the visual spectrum (590-700 nm) and all the infrared spectrum (700-1800 or so). I took this shot on a hike in Florianopolis, Brazil, an island off the coast of Brazil.
