My photo of a horse and carriage driven by an Amish man on a rural road in southern Indiana. As this image testifies, the Amish community and lifestyle have not changed much since the 1800s. They decline to use electricity and other modern conveniences--cars, for example--preferring to live a simpler, more naturalistic life, an admirable phenomenon in our hectic, machine governed, modern culture.. There is quite a large Amish community in southern Indiana, and many are neighbors of my family, from whose farm I took this photo while on a recent visit..
