A Portrait of a mountain and the people who are willing to take up the challenge and face the elements to ride it. What may suprise many people whom look at this stunning and burnished landscape is that this is not a location in the desert mountain regions of the Americas or Middle East but a mountain at the heart of a small coastal village on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales , UK. The place is Parys Mountain , or Copper Mountain in the vernacular , because its vibrant colour and striking silhouette arises from the rich stream of copper that laid within it and the copper mining industry that used to work there. The colours and Out of this Worldly appearance of the mountain and it's quarry are so interesting that the place has been used in many occasions as a film set for SciFi fantasy , including one of the early films and the classic British TV series , ' Dr. Who '. The image was taken from a high POV looking down one of the ridges that head towards the quarry which is a route interlaced with steep , slippery tracks with plenty of rise and falls , perfect for an adventurous , adrenaline junkie looking for a challenging ride on their mountain bike , like my friend just riding up the mount to meet me. It involves natural low spring light on an unfortunately cloudy day and no post processing and was taken using wide angle and telephoto zoom to produce the perspective that would enhance the structure of the mountain in the background while not obscuring the figure at the centre of the storytelling aspect in the composition.
