I shot this while on a trip in Tottori, Japan. This bug is about an inch or even longer and it makes a huge noise in the summer in the daytime. They only live a very short life so they try to make the best of it by attracting a mate and making more bug babies. It is not beautiful but it's harmless, aside from the incessant noise that it makes continuously all day long.
