Located in temperate rainforest Revelstoke and surrounding area receive significantly more snowfall than surrounding areas such as Kicking Horse a couple hours east.
Thanks to the local micro climate it’s more common than not to get this sort of inversion at Revelstoke. It can be dark and gloomy in town or at base but brilliant blue sky and sun once you rise toward the peaks. Doesn’t mean it’ll be warm though! Beautiful place.
