What inspired you to be a photographer?

Approximately 10 years ago, I decided to buy a DSLR camera. I wasn’t inspired by something special, I was just interested to shoot everything around me, like everyone else... After sometime, I decided to step it up and start to shoot portraits and nudes. Now people inspire me!

What was your first camera and what do you like about the Canon EOS 5D Mark II?

My first DSLR was a Canon 450D kit, a good camera for a beginners but it wasn’t enough for me. The next step was to buy a better lens, my choice was a Tamron 17-50 f2.8, a great universal zoom lens. Then, I realized that I need something good, something big. I then purchased a Canon 5D Mark II, back then, a brand new full frame camera from Canon.

Who is your favorite photographer and why?

I don’t have one. Lots of good photographers can give great tips on how to become a better photographer. You just need to listen and learn from them. Workshops, master classes and all the online courses will help you improve your photography.

What is your dream location to shoot?

I think something unusual for a city guy, somewhere like Iceland. If you want to shoot something beautiful and unique you need to go far away from your neighborhood.

How do you achieve the focus vs background effect in your portraits?

It is super easy! You need a fast lens. One of my favorite is the Canon 50mm f1.2. But unfortunately it is not the best match for a Canon 5D M2 with its poor AF system. I love to shoot wide open, most of my portraits are shot with an f2.2 aperture and 1 meter distance. You can get a shallow depth of field and have a more intimate connection with the subject.
