We have the pleasure to have Sean as a ViewBug member and as a collaborator, he shared with us his opinion on the following matters.

Hi Sean, tell us a bit about yourself, how do you describe your photography style?
Sean: Hello My name is Sean. I live in the UK and I’m married with 2 kids. I love being outside with nature, hence why most of my images are taken in the Great British outdoors. I have a love for landscapes/seascapes, bringing depth, detail and drama to my photography. I also have a passion for portraits, especially faces, as I think you can tell a lot by someone.

When did you start taking photos and what inspired you to get started?
Sean: I started taking photos about 3 years ago. I was inspired by people I met on Instagram. I use to use a iPhone 4 but within a year and being inspired by many on Instagram I quickly upgraded to a canon 550D. I Started teaching myself techniques and editing skills to bring the best out of what I was producing. YouTube and Photography magazines helped me a lot as well as asking friends who had more experience. There is so much to learn and even the most experienced are still learning on a daily basis. I now shoot with a Canon 5D MK III and have worked for National Geographic, Davidoff Cool Water, London Helicopter Company, SBTV, Hawkers and many more.

Do you have any specific influencers?
Sean: I am inspired a lot by the British Photographer Charlie Waite and by my good friend from Norway Sean Ensch.

Most of us have a favorite shoot that we will never forget. What has been your favorite shoot and why?
Sean: My favourite shot to date was a long exposure I took of the beautiful pier in Southwold, Suffolk, UK. The reason for this is because it was the first time I had my wife and kids come with me on a seascape shoot and to have them enjoy the experience and the techniques I used to create the shot. Its always great to explore but to share the experience with the people I love means the world to me.

Do you remember a difficult photo shoot session? What happened?
Sean: My most difficult photoshoot so far has to be last year when I was a photographer for a wedding. Wedding photography was a new venture for me and it was my 2nd wedding.
I was inside the church which was very dark, so I turned on my flash to help fill light into the dark areas.
I was waiting for the bride to come down the isle with her father and as they appeared and the music started my flash failed!! As wedding photography was a new venture, I only had one flash unit. So you can imagine panic set in whilst I tried to maintain calmness on the outside. I had no choice but to fit a prime lens (50mm) and pump up the ISO which of course ended up making all the images inside the church VERY noisy. So in the editing stage the only thing I could do was to make black and white and try to reduce the noise as much as possible. Thankfully the happy couple were pleased with the results but the episode has definitely made me rethink venturing down the wedding photography route.

That is a crazy story! On a lighter note, what do you carry in your camera bag?
Sean: Canon 5D MK III
Canon 24-105mm (My most used lens)
Canon 70-200mm (2.8)
Canon 50mm (1.4)
Canon Macro 100mm (2.8)
Lee Big Stopper
3 x Lee Hard Graduated Filters .3 .6 .9
Remote Release

What are you currently working on right now?
Sean: I’m currently working on 2 popstar shoots for SBTV on YouTube.

Can you share a couple of tips with your fellow photographers?
Sean: Composition is key and what I look at when setting up.
If the composition is good, I believe your half way there in creating a decent and interesting looking image.
Be passionate in what you do and it will come through in your work.
Last bit of advice, its never to late to follow your dream.
