James Oliver Connolly (JamesOliverConnolly) is a London based photographer from the Philippines. James is an award winning landscape, portraits and digital manipulation photography and a master of lights and shadows. He also happens to be one of Viewbug's own photo contest winners! His creativity and technical skills are superb and his images make you want to know more, wonder about them and what was going on between them, as if the picture were a chapter in a mystery story.

I love photography because…
I can shape light and shadows to create visual emotions!

My camera lets me…
Get to know different kinds of souls.

I find inspiration when…
I am randomly thinking, while I am on my way to work, or just simply sitting down on a bench.

One of the photos I am most proud of is "Sailor Smoke" because…
I find it harder to express male portraiture. This images also won the Fine Art Portrait Photo Contest on Viewbug, which of course is something I am very proud of!

My favorite place to shoot is…
London! The streets of London are very organic and you need the right model for the right sidewalk.

One of my favorite photos on ViewBug is "Festive" it makes me feel…
Invisible!

These are 3 quick tips I’d like to share with fellow photographers…
1. Have patience!
2. Shoot as much as possible
3. Shoot some more

One photo that was difficult to shoot was "Dea" because...
I didn't have any fake leaves so it was hard to synchronize with the real ones since I didn't have the possibility to add the leafs after the shot.

The tips and secrets behind this photo…
I used three lights for this image. Two from the back at half power and one beauty dish from the front with a grid. I also used manual focus.
